BLOWOFF NYC This Saturday Night

BLOWOFF NYC this Saturday. I would suggest purchasing tickets in advance.

A nice article at Time Out.

A nice mention at Village Voice.

Last Sunday, I performed at Folsom Street East. A huge turnout for the fundraiser / awareness rasier / beer blast. Thanks to John Weis, and the rest of the FSE crew. Pictures courtesy Father Tony, wrap-up courtesy Joe.

Monday night, I attended the HX Awards. There are plenty of clips on YouTube. BLOWOFF was nominated for best club night, and there was plenty of entertainment on hand. Lots of NYC adult entertainment personalities and GLBTQ legends in attendance. I will post pictures in the near future.

(Apologies to my Baltimore peeps. Something had to give, and I sadly missed the Pride events on Saturday. Tom represented, and has lots of pictures of the shenanigans.)

Solo Electric Set This Sunday, NYC

I have been so scattered, I totally forgot to mention this Sunday's solo electric set at Folsom Street East. Set time should be around 6 PM.

Drums for the next album are done. Excellent work by Jon and Frank. All I had to do was sit, listen, and enjoy.

Highlights from The Bingham Cup 2008. I have spotted more than my fair share of buddies in this video package.

The Gayest Week Ever?

Greetings from DC. A lot to catching up to do. If you have a problem with the gay, move along now.

Last Monday, Frankfurt. There was a coin-op laundromat two blocks from the hotel; nothing raises the quality of life on the road quite like a suitcase full of clean clothes. Tuesday, a short drive to Koln, A quiet afternoon in the square, an OK show, and a long walk in the crisp evening air. It was nice to have a couple of easy days before the home stretch of my favorite EU cities.

Wednesday, Hamburg. The hotel was located in Sankt Georg, a beautiful neighborhood filled with bars, clubs, restaurants. Next to a fetish club, a grade school. You won't see that in America. The show was held in a former WWII bunker, which has been converted into a music school and performance space. After work, I went to Tom's Club, which features original Tom Of Finland art. Original line: a blond haired fellow comes up to me and Rich, and introduces himself as "Thomas. I am from Helsinki. I am Tom of Finland. This is my bar!". We all had a great laugh.

Thursday, Amsterdam. This town is tied with Manhattan as my favorite walking city in the world. Last time I was here, the weather was wet. This time, overcast and pleasant. Good show at Melkweg, a quick stop on the way to the hotel, then out into the night.

Friday, my usual breakfast joint, then into the truck for the drive to Berlin. I have enjoyed my quick visits to Berlin in years past; this time, I allotted three nights for myself. The weather was perfect: 70 to 80 degrees in the breezy light, and 65 degrees for the few short hours of dark. After a quick Italian feast, off to the clubs. WOOF was fun, with a very attentive and friendly staff. A quick schnitzel with the crew, and now it's almost 4 AM. What to do at 4 AM in Berlin? Find a club that is open until 9 AM.

Saturday, a tasty brunch, and off to the venue for press. The evening's show was a great wrap-up for the work side of the tour. An excellent crowd, very appreciative, which made me quite happy. The amplifier I purchased in London was sold after the show as well. After packing up the gear, rinse and repeat last night's festivities. By this point, I need to lay off the late night schnitzel.

Sunday, brunch and ice cream, followed by a wonderful walk through the zoo. I did not see Knut, but the elephants were quite a sight. Later on, I took the subway up to Prenzl'berg, only to end up out on the sidewalk, watching World Cup, with a schnitzel in hand. I have no self-restraint when I am in Germany. (At this point in the trip, I look and feel FAT, which was confirmed by others, and by the bathroom scale the following night.) Back to the 'hood for a quiet(er) evening. Needless to say, I fell for Berlin. Things really clicked this time; the people, the weather, the balance of dark and light. I need to go back. Soon.

Monday, a flight route of Tegel - Frankfurt - Dulles. Stepping off the plane at Dulles, and into the "moon buggy" which shuttles people from gate to terminal, the 100 degree heat was overwhelming. On the buggy, professional types talking loudly on their cell phones in a crowded public space. Illogical signage, pointing arriving passengers in vague directions. Grown American adults trying to cut line for immigration. I live in the nation's capital, and this is what I am greeted with upon my return. It's not an indictment on DC in particular. I find that most major US airports which cater to international travel are similarly disjointed. But, it was a shock, after the relative order of Germany.

June is Pride month, and there are plenty of activities planned. The first is BLOWOFF this Saturday, June 14, at the 9:30 Club in DC. I have had no time to find new music, so it looks like it will the end-of-season "greatest hits" sets. Awesome art, as always, by Pat.

Sunday, June 22, I will be performing a brief solo set at Folsom Street East in NYC.

Saturday, June 28, BLOWOFF at Highline Ballroom, NYC. Pride Saturday in NYC.

Tuesday, July 15, BLOWOFF at The Boatslip, Provincetown MA, coinciding with Bear Week.

On The Road

Greetings from Frankfurt. Alles ist gut. Thanks to everyone who turned out for the first week of shows on the Continent. London held some sentimental importance; it was 23 years and 11 days since my debut in the town, and it was fun to return to the same stage on which I first appeared. Barcelona was a highlight for me. We played a blazing set last Friday night, amid three great evenings of clubbing and dining in Eixample, or, more specifically, Gaixample.

If anyone attending the Berlin show this Saturday is interested, I will be selling the amplifier I am using for the majority of these dates. Minimum offer is 200 euros. I will be happy to autograph it for you, and will include a complimentary T-shirt, CD, and DVD.

I will post pictures and details when I have more time. For now, laundry and work. And ice cream.
